Terms
Last updated 15 October 2026
These are the terms for using explain.film. They add to the Wix Terms of Use, which also apply. Where the two differ about explain.film, this page wins.
What explain.film is
explain.film is a product of Wix.com Ltd. It turns a short description of a topic into a narrated, animated explainer film. AI models write the script, make the pictures, voice the narration and compose the music. You review a storyboard before the film is animated, and you can ask for changes afterwards.
Your account
You sign in with a Google or Wix account. Keep it secure: what is done in your account is your responsibility. You need to be old enough to agree to these terms where you live. In a team, the people in it share the team's films, brand kits and credits; its owner and admins manage who joins.
Plans, credits and payment
- Your first film is free, up to 45 seconds. Its video carries a small “Made with explain.film” mark.
- Paid plans (see Pricing) are sold and billed by Wix through Wix Premium, with your Wix account. Renewal, cancellation and refunds follow the Wix Terms of Use for paid services. You change or cancel a plan on your Wix subscriptions page.
- Credits pay for making films, changes and exports. A plan adds credits every month. The app shows an estimate before a job starts; you are charged what it really used.
- On a paid plan, the films in your own workspace export without the mark.
Your films and what you upload
You keep your rights to what you upload (text, images, logos, documents, recordings) and to the films you make here. We do not claim ownership of them.
You let us use them only as far as we need to run explain.film for you: to make, store, show and export your films, to show them to the people in your team, and to play a film to anyone who has a share link you created, until you stop sharing it. This also covers the services that help us run explain.film, listed on our privacy page.
If you make a custom narrator voice from a recording, it must be your own voice, or one you have the speaker's permission to use.
AI can be wrong
Films are made by AI models. They can get facts wrong, misspell a word, or make a picture that is off. Watch and check every film before you publish or share it. You are responsible for what you publish.
What you may not do
- Upload anything you do not have the right to use, or make films that infringe someone else's copyright, trademark or other rights.
- Make anything illegal, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or that promotes violence or harm.
- Pretend to be a real person or organisation, or make a film meant to mislead people about who made it or what is true.
- Try to break, overload or get around the limits of the service.
If an account breaks these rules, we may remove the content, stop a film from being made or shared, or suspend the account.
The service
explain.film is provided “as is”. We work to keep it running and to make good films, but we cannot promise it will always be available, error-free, or that every film will come out the way you want. We may change, add or remove features, styles and voices over time. The limits on our responsibility in the Wix Terms of Use apply.
Questions
Use the Feedback button in the app (Report a bug) to reach the team. For anything about your data, write to privacy@wix.com and mention explain.film.
