Explainers turns a sentence into a finished explainer film. This page says what we keep about you to do that, why, who helps us run it, and how to see, change or delete it.
Who we are
Explainers (explain.film) is a product of Wix.com Ltd., 5 Yunitsman St., Tel Aviv, Israel, which is responsible for your data. Wix's own privacy policy also applies to your Wix account if you sign in with Wix.
What we keep
- Your account. Your name, email address and profile photo from the Google or Wix account you sign in with, the ID that account gives us, when you joined and when you last signed in or had the app open.
- What you make. Your prompts and answers, the storyboards, scripts and films made from them, and the files you add: images, logos, brand guides, links to your site, and voice recordings if you make a custom narrator voice.
- Teams and credits. The teams you are in and your role, invites you send or get, your credit balance and what it was spent on, credit requests, and your plan if you subscribe.
- Feedback. Your answers when the app asks what you think.
- Email. Which emails we sent you, your email settings, and whether a message bounced.
We do not use advertising or analytics trackers, and we do not sell your data.
Why we use it
- To sign you in and keep your films, teams and credits in one place.
- To make your films: your prompt, answers and files are sent to the AI services listed below, only to produce your film.
- To email you about your films and account, and the occasional tip (see Email).
- To keep the service working and fair: spotting errors, abuse and runaway costs.
- To improve Explainers, from your feedback and from how films come out.
Who helps us run it
These services process your data for us, only to do their part:

Some of these services are outside your country, including in the United States and Israel. Wix uses safeguards required by law for those transfers.
What others can see
- People in your team see the team's films, brand kits and credits.
- A film you share has a public link: anyone with the link can watch it until you stop sharing.
- Explainers admins can see accounts and films to run the service and help you.
We email you when a film is ready, needs your review or didn't finish, when an export is ready, and about your account (access, credits, team invites). Now and then we send a tip, like ideas for your next film. Product news only comes if you ask for it.
Film emails and tips have an unsubscribe link, and you can switch each kind off in Settings → Email. Account emails have no unsubscribe link and always come, because they answer something you asked for.
Cookies
We use only the cookies sign-in needs: one that keeps you signed in, and a short-lived one while you sign in with Wix. No advertising or tracking cookies.
How long we keep it
Your films and files stay until you delete them. Your account stays until you ask us to delete it; then we delete your account and what you made, except what we must keep by law (for example payment records), and shared links stop working.
Your rights
You can ask to see the data we have about you, get a copy, correct it, delete it, or object to how we use it. You can also complain to your data protection authority.
Write to privacy@wix.com and mention Explainers. Send it from the email address you sign in with, so we know the account is yours.
Changes
When this page changes we update the date at the top. If a change matters to you, we'll tell you by email or in the app first.
